Coffee Creamer
“Married people don’t share toothbrush, but they brush their teeth.”
- happy man
I am a domesticated guy. I mean, I enjoy my time when I’m at home with wifey and kids. I enjoy activities we do as a family. Even going to the grocery store. It’s family time whenever we go to buy our foodstuff. Me and MJ always have two push carts, one for all the groceries and the other to turn into a go-cart for my kiddos.
But not all grocery times are fun times, cause that’s where the life-changing, marital arguments starts. First I plea for a coffee creamer. “Mom, we need more coffee creamer.” I’d blurt out to MJ. “We still have coffee creamer.” She’d respond with much authority. So I give her the demand-threat “You’d better be sure about that. I want my coffee to be heavy on cream”. Sure enough after three cups, there was no more coffee creamer left. “Mommy, you told me there’ll be enough here for my coffee, but it didn’t last at least until our next grocery-outing!”, I screamed. “But why will we buy creamer the last time we went to the grocery, we still have some then!” She’d scream back.
I call it planning. She calls it budgeting. Two different grounds that any lawyer could feast on to prove a point. In our case, we only have to look at our pockets to see the verdict. Of course she won the argument, she holds the budget and I’m not upbeat into bringing in the bacon.
But to a wise person both should work well. Planning and budgeting does the trick in life. But not only finances should be planned and budgeted, time too and talent is of utmost importance. And the most gratifying part is when we’re able to share them with others.
On our next grocery stop, we bought a big jar of creamer and both of us had a hearty coffee time.
